Role Description

This full-time position offers the flexibility of being fully remote within the United States. As a key member of our Identity and Access Management Team, you'll be at the heart of our platform's security. You'll design, build, and enhance the critical services that manage authentication and authorization for everyone who interacts with BigCommerce.

  • Develop reliable, efficient, and maintainable code, contributing to the foundation of our services.
  • Actively contribute to technical tasks and feature development, such as improving system performance and query efficiency.
  • Work with operations, infrastructure, and senior engineering teams to help evolve our systems.
  • Participate in technical discussions, helping to explore and understand solutions and architectural approaches.
  • Uphold and contribute to software quality and security practices.
  • Work closely with fellow engineers, offering support and sharing knowledge to enhance collective team skills.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Minimum Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, SW, CE, MIS; or equivalent experience or completed a comprehensive software engineering boot camp.
  • 2+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience and growing proficiency in Ruby.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript/React, Scala, or Go is a plus.
  • Familiar with continuous integration principles and experience contributing to various aspects of the development cycle.
  • Foundational understanding of high-performance, scalable, and resilient web services and applications.
  • Comfortable working within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Proactive and results-driven with good communication skills.
  • Excited by the opportunity to learn new technologies and approaches.

Requirements

  • Previous exposure to or interest in Identity and Access Management is a plus.
