Lathe Machinist
About the position The Remanufacture Machinist Apprentice position is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in machining processes. The role involves working under the guidance of an instructor to learn and apply various machining techniques, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Responsibilities ? Follows direction of instructor precisely. , ? Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining. , ? Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. , ? Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunction or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. , ? Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specification. , ? Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. , ? Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly. , ? Maintains tool history form. , ? Completes daily work log. , ? Performs machine maintenance duties as per maintenance binders as well as housekeeping. , ? Inspects machined parts using calipers, micrometers, depth gages, height gages and other precision instruments/gages during production run. Requirements ? 1 year as Remanufacture Machinist Apprentice , ? 1 year Manual Mill and Manual Lathe experience required , ? 1 year Sleeve, machine and profile experience , ? Ability to read drawings , ? Mechanically inclined , ? Appropriate math abilities Nice-to-haves ? Fast learner , ? Detail oriented
