About the position The Ramp Agent at Southwest Airlines plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of ground services at the airport. This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions to manage aircraft on the ground, handle cargo and baggage, and provide exceptional customer service. Ramp Agents are essential team members who work collaboratively to meet flight departure timelines and maintain a positive experience for all customers. Responsibilities • Provide friendly service to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external Customers , • Work cooperatively to ensure the success of the Company , • Provide legendary Customer service to travelers using cargo or baggage services , • Load, unload, service, guide, and direct Company Aircraft , • Receive and record Customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required , • Handle all aspects of loading, stowing, and unloading baggage, cargo airmail, air freight, ballast, and company materials according to predetermined plans , • Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft and prepare records , • Warehouse, weigh, stack, pick up, and deliver air cargo, checking for discrepancies , • Safeguard Customers' baggage, air cargo, air mail, and COMAT from loss or damage , • Perform interior aircraft cabin cleaning and service lavatories , • Transport cabin and cleaning equipment between aircraft storage areas , • Operate and/or drive motorized equipment such as belt loaders and pushback tugs , • Complete forms and paperwork connected with work assignments according to established procedures Requirements • Ability to work well with others as part of a team , • Ability to work under stressful situations , • Must satisfactorily complete Ramp Agent training program with a 90% or greater average , • Ability to read documents and follow instructions , • Must be aware of hazardous situations and handle emergencies , • Must meet all grooming standards as outlined in the Ground Operations Employee Handbook , • Must be able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment , • Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license , • Must be able to lift and move items of 70 pounds and/or more regularly Nice-to-haves Benefits • Fly for free on any open seat on all Southwest flights for you and eligible dependents , • Company contributions up to 9.3% of eligible earnings for Retirement Savings Plan , • Potential for annual Profit Sharing contribution , • Competitive health insurance for you and your eligible dependents , • Health plan coverage options starting from the first day of employment Apply Job!
