Data Visualization Lead

Overview

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience, including a proven track record in a leadership role managing technical teams and delivering data visualization projects. Also demonstrate expertise in modern data visualization tools and technologies, the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights, and a strong capacity to lead end-to-end BI and reporting solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and Manage Data Visualization Projects: oversee end-to-end delivery of data visualization solutions, from requirements gathering to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals. 

  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: guide and mentor a team of BI developers and analysts, fostering growth and ensuring high-quality deliverables. 

  • Design and Develop Visualizations: create clear, impactful, and user-friendly dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker to translate complex data into actionable insights. 

  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: work closely with business leaders, data engineers, and analysts to understand business needs and provide effective visualization solutions. 

  • Ensure Data Accuracy and Quality: Verify data consistency, accuracy, and completeness across all visualizations, implementing best practices for data governance. 

  • Drive Best Practices for Visualization Standards: Establish and enforce design principles, storytelling techniques, and visualization best practices for clarity and consistency. 

  • Performance Optimization: Optimize dashboards and reporting tools for speed and efficiency, ensuring an excellent user experience. 

  • Project Planning and Prioritization: Manage project timelines, priorities, and resource allocation to meet business objectives and deadlines. 

  • Advocate for Data-Driven Culture: Promote data literacy within the organization, empowering teams to make informed decisions through well-designed visual tools. 

Requirements: 

  • 10+ years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence, or analytics, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role. 

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms. 

  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including relational databases, data warehousing, and ETL pipelines. 

  • Experience with SQL for querying and transforming data across large datasets. 

  • Excellent analytical and storytelling skills to transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights. 

  • Experience managing and mentoring teams, with strong leadership and project management abilities. 

  • Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and integrating data sources into visualization tools. 

  • Knowledge of design principles and UX best practices to deliver intuitive, user-friendly dashboards and reports. 

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts. 

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written to present insights and recommendations effectively. 

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA or Trello for project management. 

  • Continuous learning mindset with a passion for staying up to date on data visualization trends, tools, and technologies.
