Job Title: Philanthropy Gift Officer Work Location: Remote Reports to: Vice President of Development Travel: 45% Job Summary The Philanthropy Gift Officer (PGO) is responsible for strategically stewarding, cultivating, retaining, and growing a portfolio of rising, major, and signature donor relationships. This role connects donor passions and philanthropic goals with MAP’s mission, delivering meaningful engagement opportunities that inspire generosity and deepen commitment. With a focus on individual revenue and expense goals tied to the assigned portfolio, the PGO will manage a portfolio of rising to signature donors (cumulative gifts of $5,000+), ensuring high retention, increased giving, and enhanced donor involvement. By providing personalized engagement, thoughtful stewardship, and compelling investment opportunities for impact, the PGO plays a vital role in advancing MAP’s mission and enabling donors to fulfill their vision for global health. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of assigned donors ($5,000+ cumulative gifts annually), ensuring high retention, increased giving, and deeper engagement
  • Cultivate, steward, and grow relationships with approximately 90–150 rising, major, and signature donors, including individuals, family foundations, and organizations
  • Develop and implement personalized engagement strategies that align donor passions with MAP International’s mission and priorities
  • Gather and share accurate, compelling proposals followed by impact stories and data to demonstrate how contributions are used and the difference they make locally and globally
  • Represent MAP at select high-level donor engagements, events, and gatherings to deepen relationships with rising, major, and signature donors
  • Advance prospecting efforts to identify and research new high-capacity individuals, family foundations, and organizations, building a robust pipeline through strategic outreach and early cultivation activities
  • Maintain daily communication with portfolio donors via phone, email, and mail to steward them for gifts, communicate impact, invite them to events, and share urgent needs
  • Develop relationships with donors to understand their passions while clearly communicating MAP’s mission and ongoing work
  • Conduct regular in-person visits and virtual meetings with donors and partners, ensuring timely follow-up and meaningful connection
  • Partner with internal teams to coordinate messaging, donor materials, and stewardship efforts for consistency and excellence
  • Maintain MAP’s CRM system (Agilon ONE), capturing donor interactions and communications to support reporting
  • Follow moves management plans for each donor consistently and on time to ensure retention and growth
  • Actively participate as a member of the Philanthropy team within Global Giving (Philanthropy, Direct Response, Marketing)

  • Ability to qualify donors from the larger pool of organizational donors meeting rising, major, and signature gift criteria
  • Ability to create reasonable financial goals based on donor capacity and giving history
  • Ability to develop individualized contact and solicitation plans based on donor interests, motivations, and preferences
  • Ability to retain and upgrade donors
  • Ability to solicit gifts across giving levels:
  • Rising: $5,000–$9,999
  • Major: $10,000–$99,999
  • Signature: $100,000+
  • Ability to develop effective investment opportunity proposals
  • Ability to communicate accurate and compelling impact reporting to donors
  • Ability to manage processes, deadlines, and budgets while following organizational policies
  • Ability to maintain a positive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Strong team orientation aligned to organizational mission, goals, and values
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building skills within a relationship-driven fundraising model

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience requiring strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of international relief, global health, or nonprofit operations
  • Moderate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with donor databases (Agilon, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar) required
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful fundraising experience with individuals, foundations, churches, or organizations
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding fundraising targets
  • Experience in international NGO or relief sector preferred
