The Role Why This Role Exists Denials, rejections, and aging AR are where practices quietly bleed revenue - and where most RCM operations get stuck doing slow, manual, repetitive work. This is the hardest, highest-leverage work in the revenue cycle, and it's exactly where Joyful Health's AI-native tooling changes the game. We are looking to hire a Revenue Recovery Specialist: a deeply experienced RCM professional who will work denials, rejections, and outstanding AR for our customers - not by grinding through claims by hand, but by pairing your expertise with state-of-the-art AI RCM tooling to resolve issues faster and at higher volume than traditional RCM ever could. This is not simply a billing specialist seat. You'll be a recovery expert who knows how payers think, how claims get denied, and how to get them paid - and you'll use Joyful Health's platform to do it at a scale and speed that wouldn't be possible anywhere else. Your work directly delivers on the value we promise our customers, and your expertise directly shapes the product we're building. This is a remote, full-time role. What Makes This Different This is a human-in-the-loop role at an AI-native healthcare company - which means two things define how you'll work: Recovery is the job - throughput and quality are the goal. Your core mandate is clear: recover revenue for our customers by resolving the denials, rejections, and AR that practices can't. You'll work the hardest claims, and you'll have state-of-the-art AI RCM tooling that strips out the manual pains so your expertise goes where it actually moves the needle. We measure what matters in recovery - dollars recovered, denials overturned, days-to-resolution, and the quality of the work - not touches or call volume. You use our product to win for customers, and that fuels the loop. You'll combine Joyful Health's tooling with each customer's priorities to get claims paid - and because you're working real claims at the frontier, what you experience becomes valuable signal. The patterns you surface from the recovery frontline flow directly to our RCM Center of Excellence and Engineering teams, giving them exactly what they need to build smarter, more sophisticated tooling. Your frontline insight is one of the most important inputs into how the whole engine gets better. What you'll do… Own denials, rejections, and outstanding AR for our customers: Work the full recovery lifecycle - diagnosing root causes, reworking and resubmitting claims, drafting appeals, and chasing aging AR to resolution. Pair deep RCM judgment with AI-native tooling: Use Joyful Health's state-of-the-art platform to resolve claims at a speed and scale traditional RCM can't match - applying your expertise where human judgment matters most and letting the tooling handle the administrative burden. Partner closely with each account's Revenue Cycle Success Manager: Work hand-in-hand with the RCSM who owns each practice relationship, so recovery work and customer strategy stay tightly aligned. Collaborate with our RCM Center of Excellence: Tap into the deepest RCM expertise in the company to sharpen your recovery work, and share what you're seeing across accounts so the CoE can fold it into the playbook and the product. Feed the product loop: As a byproduct of doing recovery well, surface what you see on the frontline - where the tooling helps, where it misses, what would make recovery faster - so it flows into the feedback loop our RCM CoE and Engineering teams use to build better tooling. What Success Looks Like In 30 days: Fluent in Joyful Health's platform and AI RCM tooling Actively working denials, rejections, and AR across your assigned accounts Strong working relationships with your Revenue Cycle Success Managers and the RCM CoE In 90 days: Strong, measurable recovery results - denials overturned, claims resolved, AR brought current - at high throughput and quality Operating independently across your book of accounts, in tight coordination with your RCSMs Consistently surfacing useful signal into the CoE/Engineering feedback loop In 12 months: A track record of recovered revenue that directly delivers on our customer promise Recognized as a go-to recovery expert across your accounts and a trusted partner to the RCSM, RCM CoE, and Engineering teams A reputation as someone who proves what AI-native revenue recovery can do - high volume, high quality, real dollars back to practices We'd love to hear from you if… You're deeply aligned with Joyful Health's mission — You're motivated by fixing broken systems in healthcare and believe the financial side of care deserves the same innovation as the clinical side. You have deep, hands-on RCM experience in a practice or physician-group setting — You've personally worked denials, rejections, and AR end-to-end, and you understand the full revenue cycle: clean claim submission, why claims get rejected and denied, how to appeal, and how to chase aging AR to resolution. This is outpatient / ambulatory / private-practice RCM — not the same world as large hospital systems or the payer side. You're relentless about recovery — You’ll stop at nothing to figure out how to get a claim paid, and you won’t get stuck at the first denial reason. You're the kind of person who chases a claim to root cause, knows the payer pathways fluently, and digs multiple layers past what's on the surface to recover dollars for the practice. A "no" from a payer is the start of the work, not the end of it. You know that recovery skill is full-cycle skill — Because you've worked denials, you understand submission and rejections too. You see the whole claim lifecycle, not one slice of it. You're energized by AI tooling — You want to work alongside state-of-the-art technology that takes the manual grind out of the job, and you're excited to make that tooling smarter and more innovative. You're product and systems minded — You can articulate not just what went wrong with a claim but why, and translate that into feedback an engineering team can act on. You're collaborative and low-ego — You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Revenue Cycle Success Managers, the RCM Center of Excellence, and our engineering team, and you're the kind of person who makes everyone around you better.
