Junior Accounts Payable Clerk
R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited is a growing Canadian employee-owned Civil and Environmental Engineering Consulting Firm. They are seeking a Junior Accounts Payable Clerk to manage vendor payments, ensure financial accuracy, and support accounting operations in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Processing high volumes of vendor invoices using our electronic AP system, including uploading and validating digital invoice files
- Managing the electronic approval workflow to ensure invoices are properly routed and verified
- Reviewing invoices for accuracy, correct expense allocation, tax treatment, and compliance with company policies
- Responding to vendor inquiries promptly and professionally
- Maintaining and updating vendor records and related documentation
- Providing backup support for employee expense processing and reimbursement
- Maintaining accurate AP records with a focus on audit readiness and retention
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to digital workflows and AP automation
- Performing daily transactions, month‑end procedures, and general administrative duties for the Accounting department
- Completing other tasks as assigned by the Accounting Manager
Skills
- A College Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
- Relevant experience in a high-volume environment; experience in a private-sector professional services organization
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- The ability to work with accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Experience with digital AP systems or workflow automation
- Prior exposure to tax treatment, expense allocation, or audit preparation in an AP setting
