Senior Streaming Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Streaming Engineer to join us. I’m Mikael Malmborg, Head of Video Streaming, and I’m searching for someone ready to grow with us. We’re a highly engaged team of experts within our domain focused on building, securing, and scaling the streaming platform that delivers the award winning, world‑class Live and VOD Telia Play service to our Nordic customers. Within Video Streaming, our mission is simple but ambitious: We make everything behind the “play” button work when it comes to streaming - reliably, securely, and at scale. In Streaming Infrastructure, we operate the backbone of that mission: the ingest, processing, packaging, delivery, observability, and automation that ensure our customers always get a smooth, high‑quality TV and streaming experience. What you’ll do: As a Senior Streaming Engineer, you will together with the team own and evolve our streaming media pipelines, platforms, and tooling that power the Telia Play streaming service across the Nordics. Develop and operate high‑availability, automated streaming infrastructure across Live, VOD, and time‑shifted services. Create scalable DevOps workflows, observability capabilities, and tools that ensure reliability, security, and operational excellence end‑to‑end. Consult and collaborate with Product, Backend, Player, Network, and Security teams to drive technical strategy, best practices, and long‑term architectural direction. Lead improvements within Dynamic Ad Insertion (DAI), DRM, acquisition, encoding, streaming, anti-piracy, cloud scalability, CDN performance, and distributed systems reliability. What will help you thrive in this role: You’ll thrive here if you enjoy solving large‑scale technical challenges, driving architectural clarity, and elevating engineering practices across team boundaries. Proven experience in streaming technologies, distributed systems, hardware, OS and cloud‑native DevOps engineering (5+ years). Strong knowledge of AWS, media services, DevOps toolchains, Dynamic Ad Insertion, DRM systems (Widevine, PlayReady, FairPlay), streaming protocols (HLS, DASH) and modern observability. Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on problem‑solving, especially in high‑traffic, event‑driven environments. Fluency in English and comfort presenting complex technology clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Important Information: The role includes participating in an on‑call rotation approximately every 6-8 weeks.
