Why Join arenaflex?

At arenaflex, we are at the forefront of health‑information technology, delivering cutting‑edge Master Patient Index (MPI) clean‑up services to hospitals and health systems across the United States. Our mission is simple yet powerful: eliminate duplicate patient records, improve data integrity, and enable clinicians to make faster, safer decisions. As the healthcare industry continues to digitize, the need for precise, reliable patient data has never been greater. By joining our growing remote team, you become a vital part of a purpose‑driven organization that directly impacts patient safety and operational efficiency for thousands of medical facilities.

Position Overview

The Remote Patient Identity Data Specialist role is an entry‑level, contract‑based opportunity designed for detail‑oriented individuals who thrive in a fast‑paced, data‑centric environment. You will work on MPI Data Reconciliation Projects, performing critical data‑entry, merge, and verification tasks within hospital information systems and ancillary applications. Your work will directly support the creation of clean, unified patient records, helping our clients avoid costly duplication errors and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Extraction: Retrieve designated demographic and clinical information from multiple hospital applications, ensuring that every data point required for merge planning is captured accurately.
  • Duplicate Record Merging: Execute merges of duplicate medical record numbers (MRNs) in accordance with standardized procedures, maintaining strict adherence to privacy and security protocols.
  • Demographic Updates: Perform real‑time updates to patient records, correcting inaccuracies and enriching data fields as needed during electronic merge processing.
  • Spreadsheet Creation & Maintenance: Build and maintain detailed spreadsheets for medical record or radiology jacket retrieval, supporting downstream reporting and audit activities.
  • Quality Assurance (QA): Achieve and sustain a minimum of 97% accuracy on Merge Planning QA and 95% accuracy on Electronic Verification QA, documenting any exceptions and escalating issues promptly.
  • Project Flexibility: Transition smoothly between multiple MPI projects, quickly learning new rules, processes, and system interfaces as they arise.
  • Remote Collaboration: Participate in scheduled virtual meetings, training sessions, and daily stand‑ups during standard business hours (8 am–5 pm MST) to stay aligned with project leadership and team members.
  • Self‑Directed Problem Solving: Identify data anomalies, ask clarifying questions, and propose corrective actions without constant supervision.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Log work activities, time spent, and outcomes in the project management tool, ensuring traceability and compliance with contractual deliverables.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (required).
  • Demonstrated data‑entry experience with a proven track record of meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Windows operating systems, web‑based applications, and Microsoft Excel (or comparable spreadsheet software).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex data issues clearly to project leads.
  • Critical thinking aptitude – capable of analyzing discrepancies and determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Self‑starter mindset with the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in health‑information management, medical records, or a related healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Allscripts) and MPI concepts.
  • Experience using data‑validation tools or performing data‑quality audits.
  • Basic understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software interfaces and adapt to evolving project requirements.
  • Prior remote work experience, demonstrating effective time management and virtual collaboration skills.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Accuracy & Precision: Consistently deliver work that meets or exceeds the 97%/95% QA thresholds.
  • Time Management: Balance multiple tasks while adhering to project timelines and daily productivity targets.
  • Team Communication: Proactively engage with supervisors, ask clarifying questions, and share insights that improve overall project outcomes.
  • Adaptability: Embrace frequent changes in project scope, rules, and tools without loss of productivity.
  • Ethical Responsibility: Guard patient confidentiality and handle sensitive health data with the utmost integrity.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

While this role is entry‑level, arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its remote workforce. Successful specialists can expect:

  • Eligibility for internal mobility across arenaflex’s broader portfolio of health‑technology services, including revenue cycle management and population health analytics.

Compensation, Perks & Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly rate of up to $15 per hour, with the potential for performance‑based incentives. As a remote contractor, you will receive:

  • All necessary hardware (laptop, headset, and secure VPN access) shipped directly to your home office.
  • Reimbursement for a modest home‑office stipend to cover ergonomics and internet costs.
  • Flexible scheduling within the core business window (8 am–5 pm MST) to accommodate personal commitments.
  • Paid training days during the initial onboarding period (Monday‑Friday, 8 am–5 pm MST).
  • Access to a virtual employee assistance program (EAP) offering counseling, financial advice, and wellness resources.
  • Opportunities to earn certifications that may increase future earning potential.
