Puzzle & Logic Game Designer (Live Experience)

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Remote | 1099 Contractor | Creative Core — Gaming Division We’re building something different. Most game design happens on screens. We design games that happen in real life—in bars, restaurants, and social spaces—where teams of people compete, think, laugh, and come back week after week. We’re building one of the most advanced live game creation teams in the world, and we’re looking for a Puzzle & Logic Game Designer to help us do it. If you love Mensa-style puzzles, escape rooms, or clever mobile puzzle mechanics—but also understand that a great idea has to actually work in the wild—this role might be for you. What You’ll Actually Be Doing This is not a “write a few puzzles and call it a day” role. You will:

  • Design original and adapted puzzles (logic, lateral thinking, pattern recognition, wordplay, multi-step challenges, etc.)
  • Build puzzles for team-based, live environments (not solo app users)
  • Contribute to full game experiences, not just individual puzzles
  • Help create repeatable templates and systems so great ideas can scale
  • Design puzzles that work in:
  • Loud, social, real-world environments
  • With time pressure and group dynamics
  • Test, refine, and improve your work based on real feedback

What Makes This Role Different

  • Your puzzles won’t live on a phone—they’ll live in a room full of people
  • You’ll design for teams, not individuals
  • You’ll help build a library of mechanics and templates, not just one-off ideas
  • You’ll be part of a creative system, not working in isolation

What We’re Looking For You might be a great fit if you:

  • Love puzzles. Not casually—deeply
  • Have experience with (or obsession for):
  • Mensa-style puzzles
  • Escape rooms
  • Puzzle/logic mobile games
  • Can create across multiple puzzle types—not just one niche
  • Understand the difference between:
  • A puzzle that’s clever
  • And a puzzle that’s actually fun and playable
  • Can take complex ideas and make them clear and usable
  • Are both:
  • Creative (idea generation)
  • And structured (can build repeatable systems)
  • Are comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving environment

Bonus Points If You Can

  • Build templates or frameworks others can use to generate puzzles
  • Think in terms of systems, not just one-off ideas
  • Design puzzles that scale across multiple formats and audiences

Compensation

  • 1099 contractor position
  • Project-based / ongoing work depending on fit and output
  • (Comp structure discussed during interview process)

How to Apply

Do not just send a resume. Instead, send us:

  • A short note about your background and why this role interests you
  • Examples of puzzles or game mechanics you’ve created (if available)
  • (Optional but encouraged) A sample puzzle you’ve designed

Qualified candidates will be invited to complete a short design test as part of the process. Final Note We take what we’re building seriously. Our games aren’t just entertainment—they’re experiences that bring people together in a world that doesn’t do that enough anymore. If that excites you, we want to see what you can do. CANDIDATE TEST: Puzzle & Logic Designer This test is designed to evaluate:

  • Creativity
  • Clarity
  • Playability in a live environment
  • Ability to think in systems (not just one-off puzzles)

Part 1: Live Puzzle Design (Core Test) Create 2 original puzzles designed for a team of 4–6 players in a live setting (bar/restaurant environment). Requirements:

  • Solve time: 3–7 minutes per puzzle
  • Must be team-friendly (not dependent on one person solving alone)
  • Must be playable:
  • On paper, OR
  • With minimal phone use (no apps required)

For each puzzle, include:

  • Puzzle prompt (what players see)
  • Correct answer
  • Explanation of solution
  • Estimated difficulty (easy / medium / hard)
  • Why this works in a live environment

Part 2: Adaptation Challenge Take a classic puzzle type (example: Sudoku, logic grid, riddles, pattern puzzles, etc.) Your task:

  • Adapt it into a live, team-based experience

Include:

  • Original inspiration (what you adapted from)
  • Your new version of the puzzle
  • What changes you made and why
  • How it improves playability in a group setting

Part 3: Scalable Thinking (Key Differentiator) Take one of the puzzles you created above and: Turn it into a template. Show how this puzzle could be:

  • Reused multiple times
  • Easily modified by someone else
  • Scaled into a repeatable format

Include:

  • Template structure
  • Rules for creating new versions
  • 2 additional sample variations

Part 4: (Optional but Powerful) Design a short 2–3 puzzle sequence that could exist inside a larger game. Goal: Show that you can think beyond single puzzles and design flow. What We’re Looking For in Submissions

  • Is it fun, not just smart?
  • Is it clear and playable, not confusing?
  • Does it work in a real-world environment?
  • Does it encourage team interaction?
  • Can it scale beyond one use?

Submission Format

  • Google Doc or PDF preferred
  • Keep it clean and easy to follow
  • Visuals are a plus but not required

Pay: Up to $165,000.00 per year Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
