Position Overview: Remote Pharmacy Data Entry Technician

As a Remote Pharmacy Data Entry Technician at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of our pharmacy operations. Working under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists, you will be responsible for entering patient and prescription data into our advanced pharmacy systems, processing prescriptions with meticulous attention to detail, and supporting a variety of operational and customer service functions. Your work will directly impact patient safety and satisfaction, making this an ideal role for individuals who take pride in precision and care deeply about healthcare quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prescription Data Entry and Processing: Utilize arenaflex's proprietary pharmacy management systems to accurately enter patient demographics, medication information, and prescription details. Verify the correctness of all data entries, including drug names, dosages, and refill information, to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Patient and Customer Interaction: Serve as a friendly, knowledgeable first point of contact for patients and customers via phone, email, and chat. Greet patients warmly, answer inquiries, resolve concerns, and provide assistance with pharmacy services and products. Build strong, lasting relationships with valued customers by delivering a consistently delightful experience.
  • Support for Pharmacists: Assist pharmacists in the daily practice of pharmacy operations in accordance with state, federal, and arenaflex policies. This includes helping maintain workflow efficiency, managing prescription queues, and providing administrative support as needed.
  • Insurance Claims Processing: Accurately process and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription programs in a timely and efficient manner. Handle clerical duties related to insurance billing, ensuring minimal errors and prompt resolution of claim issues.
  • Inventory and Stock Management: Support the pharmacy team in managing inventory activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and properly storing prescription medications. Maintain awareness of asset protection procedures and report any discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Strictly adhere to all arenaflex policies, procedures, and the company's Pharmacy Code of Conduct. Immediately report any prescription errors to the supervising pharmacist and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety.
  • Cash Handling and Register Operations: Accurately register all sales transactions on assigned cash registers, handle cash with integrity, and assist customers in locating over-the-counter products when needed.
  • Medical Services Coordination: May assist pharmacists with the collection and proper labeling of biological samples, coordination of clinical services, and communication with external healthcare providers and vendors.
  • Outreach and Relationship Building: Support efforts to build and maintain positive relationships with local healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, retirement communities, and nursing homes, to enhance service awareness and growth opportunities.
  • Maintenance and Cleanliness: Ensure that all work areas, including remote workstations, remain organized, well-stocked, and presentable, contributing to a professional and efficient work environment.
  • Continuous Learning and Development: Actively participate in training programs, complete required professional learning modules, and pursue continuing education opportunities to stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in pharmacy and healthcare.

Essential Qualifications

  • Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (This requirement does not apply to candidates based in Puerto Rico.)
  • Reliable Internet Connection: A stable, high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, quiet workspace free from distractions are required for remote work.
  • Legal Authorization to Work: Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a background check.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to enter data accurately, identify discrepancies, and maintain high standards of precision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-first mindset and the ability to handle inquiries with empathy and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail Pharmacy Experience: At least six months of experience working in a retail pharmacy or similar customer service environment is highly desirable.
  • Prior arenaflex or Industry Experience: Previous work experience with arenaflex, a major pharmacy chain, or a related healthcare organization is a plus.
  • Mathematical Aptitude: Strong math skills with the ability to accurately count, measure, and weigh pharmaceutical products.
  • Computer Proficiency: Solid computer skills, including familiarity with data entry software, pharmacy management systems, and standard office applications.
  • Inventory Management Knowledge: Understanding of retail or pharmacy inventory control practices.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB): Current or pending Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is strongly preferred. If not yet certified, candidates must be willing to obtain certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician roles.

This program, accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the U.S. Department of Labor, provides a guided pathway to becoming a certified Pharmacy Technician.

Through this apprenticeship, you will gain foundational and advanced knowledge, hands-on skills, and real-world experience—all while earning a full-time salary. Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to sit for the PTCB certification exam, earning you a nationally recognized, portable credential that can open doors to career advancement across the country.

As an added bonus, graduates of the arenaflex apprenticeship program may qualify for up to 8 college credit hours, as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This includes 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree level and 5 semester hours at the upper-division baccalaureate level—making this an excellent stepping stone if you choose to pursue further education in healthcare or related fields.
