Job Description: We are looking for a Pre-Sales Systems Engineer to support HPE Networking's K-12 Education and Local Government customers. This role serves as a trusted technical advisor, partnering with Territory Managers, customers, and channel partners to design, position, and deliver networking solutions that address customer business and technology challenges. The Systems Engineer supports the full sales cycle, including opportunity qualification, solution design, technical presentations, proof-of-concept engagements, proposal development, and competitive positioning. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise across wired and wireless networking, campus and branch networking, network security, SASE, cloud-managed networking, and network management solutions. This individual exercises independent judgment to solve complex technical and business challenges, collaborates across sales and technical teams, and helps K-12 and Local Government customers modernize their networking environments while driving successful business outcomes. Responsibilities: Creates and defines technology roadmaps for assigned K-12 and Local Government customers within the Houston, South Texas, Louisiana, San Antonio, San Marcos, and Rio Grande Valley territories. Partners with Territory Managers to identify, qualify, and advance networking opportunities throughout the sales cycle. Designs, documents, and presents networking solutions that align with customer business and technical requirements. Leads customer demonstrations, workshops, and proof-of-concept engagements to validate HPE Networking solutions. Serves as a trusted technical advisor by articulating the value of HPE Networking solutions and differentiating HPE offerings from competitors. Maintains expertise in competitive networking technologies and market trends to effectively position HPE Networking solutions. Collaborates with internal engineering, product management, and industry experts to anticipate customer needs and develop innovative solutions. Participates in proposal development and supports the technical aspects of complex and competitive sales pursuits. Develops and maintains strong relationships with HPE channel partners to increase sales opportunities and market coverage. Proactively manages technical sales activities supporting an active opportunity pipeline through closure. Gathers customer business, operational, and technical requirements to develop tailored networking solutions. Supports solutions spanning wired and wireless networking, routing, switching, security, SASE, network access control, cloud-managed networking, and network management platforms. Provides technical leadership during customer engagements while collaborating across internal sales and technical teams. Education and Experience Required: University or Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and networking industry experience will be considered. 4+ years of technical professional experience in networking, systems engineering, consulting, pre-sales, or post-sales technical roles. Experience supporting State, Local Government, or K-12 Education customers preferred. Experience developing and positioning networking solutions in competitive customer environments. Experience with networking technologies including routing, switching, wireless networking, security, SASE, and network management platforms. Experience supporting both on-premises and cloud-managed networking environments. Industry certifications such as HPE Aruba, Juniper, Cisco, or equivalent networking certifications are highly desirable.
