Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑moving marketplace, the ability to ingest, transform, and serve data reliably is a competitive advantage. As a Data Engineer II on the arenaflex Data Warehouse team, you will be at the heart of that advantage. You will partner directly with product, finance, operations, and engineering groups to build robust data pipelines that enable real‑time analytics, predictive modeling, and strategic reporting. Your work will directly influence product roadmaps, operational efficiency, and the overall customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner Collaboration: Gather and translate business requirements from diverse partners—including Membership, Deals, Supply Chain, Finance, Product, and Marketing—into technical specifications for data ingestion.
  • Data Ingestion Design: Architect, develop, and deploy new data ingestion solutions using a blend of native arenaflex cloud services and open‑source technologies.
  • Pipeline Maintenance & Optimization: Maintain, refactor, and enhance existing ETL pipelines to meet evolving standards, performance SLAs, and governance policies.
  • Tooling & Platform Development: Build and improve internal tools and platforms that enable both arenaflex teams and external partners to monitor, manage, and troubleshoot data flows.
  • Code Review & Best Practices: Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and champion best practices for data quality, security, and reliability.
  • Automation & Monitoring: Implement automated testing, validation, and alerting mechanisms to ensure data pipelines operate flawlessly at scale.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear documentation, run workshops, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience designing, building, and operating data pipelines in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts; ability to write complex queries for data extraction and transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL architecture.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot data anomalies and performance bottlenecks.

Preferred Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Experience with arenaflex cloud services such as Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM for security and permissions.
  • Programming expertise in at least one modern language—Python, Java, Scala, or Node.js—and familiarity with version control (Git).
  • Knowledge of non‑relational data stores, including object storage, document databases, key‑value stores, graph databases, and columnar stores.
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for scalable pipeline deployment.
  • Understanding of data governance, lineage, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Prior experience working in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment with agile methodologies.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Problem Solving: Ability to dissect complex data challenges and devise elegant, scalable solutions.
  • Communication: Clear articulation of technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and effective documentation skills.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of partnering with product owners, data scientists, and operations teams to deliver joint outcomes.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable learning new technologies quickly and adjusting to shifting business priorities.
  • Ownership: Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility for end‑to‑end data quality and pipeline reliability.

arenaflex invests heavily in employee development. As a Data Engineer II, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior architects and data leaders across the organization.
