Position Overview – Night Shift Shift Lead (9 PM – 5 AM)

arenaflex is seeking an experienced, motivated, and customer‑focused Shift Lead to oversee night‑time operations at one of our high‑traffic California stores. This full‑time role is the backbone of our 24‑hour service model, ensuring that the store opens, operates, and closes smoothly while delivering an exceptional experience for every guest. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership abilities with hands‑on expertise in data entry, inventory control, cash handling, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Store Opening & Closing: Safely open and close the store, manage all security systems, and ensure that the premises are ready for the day’s activities without any supervision from senior management.
  • Cash Management: Perform cash drops to the safe, reconcile registers, process refunds, voids, and discounts, and maintain accurate cash logs in accordance with arenaflex policies.
  • Customer Interaction: Greet every guest with a warm, professional demeanor, address inquiries, resolve concerns, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance the customer journey.
  • Team Leadership & Training: Mentor and coach associates on stockroom procedures, merchandising, and data‑entry tasks; act as the point of contact for the team when management is unavailable.
  • Inventory & Merchandising: Oversee stock counts, conduct price changes, ensure proper signage, and execute FIFO (first‑in, first‑out) rotation for perishable items.
  • Compliance & Safety: Enforce state and local regulations for controlled substances, tobacco, and alcohol; conduct regular safety checks and ensure the store environment remains clean and hazard‑free.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with daily accounting tasks, generate cash reports, process invoices, and support the senior manager with special projects such as promotional set‑ups and planogram resets.
  • Loss Prevention: Perform bag checks for associates, monitor for shrinkage, and report any suspicious activity in line with arenaflex loss‑prevention protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in training programs, maintain PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required, and stay current on industry best practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory, key‑holder, or retail management experience.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle cash, perform accurate data entry, and reconcile financial transactions.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Flexibility to work the designated night‑shift schedule (9 PM – 5 AM) on a consistent basis.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with inventory management systems and point‑of‑sale (POS) platforms.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations, including familiarity with PTCB certification or a state pharmacy license.
  • Background in loss‑prevention or shrinkage analysis.
  • Ability to train and develop a diverse team of associates.
  • Strong problem‑solving capabilities and the capacity to make quick, sound decisions under pressure.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; candidates with varied backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Leadership Presence: Inspire confidence, set clear expectations, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Prioritize guest satisfaction and consistently deliver a “wow” experience.
  • Analytical Acumen: Interpret sales data, inventory reports, and financial statements to drive operational improvements.
  • Communication Excellence: Convey information clearly to both customers and team members, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing retail landscape while maintaining composure during peak periods.
  • Integrity & Compliance: Uphold arenaflex’s ethical standards and adhere strictly to regulatory requirements.
