As a Staff Data Scientist specializing in Search Retrieval and Matching Science, you'll be positioned at the cutting edge of search engine technology. Core Responsibilities
- Lead Search Algorithm Innovation: Design, develop, and optimize cutting-edge search retrieval systems that deliver the most relevant job listings to job seekers. You'll own one of our team's most critical workstreams and drive technical direction for matching science initiatives.
- Machine Learning Model Development: Build and deploy predictive models at scale, tracking their performance in production and continuously iterating to improve matching accuracy. Transform proof-of-concept models into production-ready systems that serve millions of queries daily.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success metrics. Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on goals.
- Experimental Excellence: Design and execute rigorous A/B experiments to test new matching algorithms and evaluate their impact. Use statistical methods to analyze results and drive data-backed decisions that improve user experience.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and develop other data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers. Break down complex ML projects into incremental deliverables that provide measurable business value.
- Technical Evangelism: Represent arenaflex at premier machine learning conferences including NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR. Share our innovations with the broader technical community and stay current with the latest advancements in the field.
- Research & Innovation: Explore new methodologies, staying ahead of industry trends and bringing fresh ideas to our matching science initiatives. Formulate challenging problem statements and develop innovative solutions.
Who We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Advanced degrees are a plus but not required—we value practical experience and problem-solving abilities.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or AI Engineer. You've worked on production systems that serve real users at scale.
- ML Deployment Success: Proven track record of deploying impactful machine learning solutions to large-scale production systems. You understand the journey from research prototype to production-ready deployment.
- Technical Depth: Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design. You can navigate complex technical challenges and deliver robust solutions.
- Deep Learning Expertise: Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. You're comfortable building and training neural network models.
