Role Overview – Community Chat Moderator (Part‑Time / Full‑Time)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail‑oriented Chat Moderator to join our U.S. Data Security (USDS) division. This role sits at the intersection of community safety, content moderation, and technical operations. You will help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for arenaflex users by reviewing live chat streams, enforcing community guidelines, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to improve moderation tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor live chat channels across arenaflex’s platform, identifying and removing content that violates community standards, including harassment, hate speech, misinformation, and unsafe behavior.
  • Escalate high‑risk incidents to the USDS security team, providing clear documentation and context for rapid response.
  • Develop and maintain detailed runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge‑base articles that enable consistent moderation decisions.
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Product, QA, and Product Management teams to design automated moderation workflows and improve detection accuracy.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and incident response drills, ensuring swift resolution of moderation‑related outages or spikes in abusive activity.
  • Analyze moderation metrics, generate regular reports, and recommend data‑driven enhancements to policies and tooling.
  • Lead small‑scale projects aimed at increasing moderation efficiency, such as implementing new AI‑assisted filters or refining escalation pathways.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior moderators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in content moderation, community management, or a similar role within a high‑traffic digital platform.
  • Strong familiarity with Linux operating systems, scripting (Shell, Python), and basic networking concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and enforce community guidelines with fairness and consistency.
  • Excellent analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities; fluency in English is required, additional languages are a plus.
  • Self‑starter attitude, comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a technical or social science discipline.

  • Familiarity with AI‑driven moderation tools, natural language processing (NLP), and machine‑learning pipelines.
  • Prior work in a regulated environment handling personally identifiable information (PII) and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
