Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Data Annotation Supervisor to lead a distributed team of Data Annotation Specialists who label 3D point clouds, images, and video streams for neural network training. This role sits at the intersection of data quality, AI research, and operational excellence. You will be responsible for ensuring that the annotation pipeline delivers precise, reliable ground truth data that fuels arenaflex’s Autopilot AI models. The position is fully remote, offering a competitive hourly rate of $30‑$40 and a comprehensive benefits package from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve training programs for annotation specialists, aligning curriculum with evolving AI model requirements.
  • Monitor daily performance metrics using proprietary annotation tools; generate and present weekly and monthly performance reports to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and AI research teams to translate technical constraints into clear annotation guidelines.
  • Identify and document labeling inefficiencies; propose process enhancements and contribute to the creation of best‑practice documentation.
  • Allocate headcount across quality control and labeling functions, prioritize project queues, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality annotated datasets.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date operational documentation, SOPs, and training materials to support consistent execution across the remote workforce.
  • Conduct bi‑annual performance reviews, monthly check‑ins, and provide mentorship to team leads and individual contributors.
  • Recognize and reward top performers through structured recognition programs, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Accurately track time and attendance using the Kronos system, ensuring compliance with payroll and labor regulations.
  • Lead cross‑functional initiatives that improve data integrity, throughput, and overall annotation quality, directly impacting the performance of arenaflex’s autonomous driving stack.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing medium‑sized teams (10‑30 members) in a manual‑operations environment, preferably within data labeling, content moderation, or quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities with limited resources.
  • Strong commitment to data accuracy and throughput, with a track record of delivering high‑quality results under pressure.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and a rapid learning aptitude for new tools, processes, and AI concepts.
  • Proven experience presenting complex technical topics to non‑technical audiences in a clear, concise manner.
  • Proficiency with workflow management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, data visualizations).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop remote talent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in autonomous vehicle data pipelines, computer vision, or machine learning annotation workflows.
  • Familiarity with 3D point‑cloud annotation platforms and tools (e.g., Scale AI, Labelbox, or custom in‑house solutions).
  • Background in process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile.
  • Prior exposure to large‑scale data governance, data security, and compliance standards.
  • Certification in project management (PMP, Scrum Master) or related disciplines.
