Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE – DC/MD/VA) | Project-Based Remote Role

Bitarchitects is seeking a Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) to support our engineering projects on a remote, project-based basis. The ideal candidate holds an active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia, and has strong experience in U.S. mechanical codes, HVAC design, plumbing systems, and permitting processes. This role is best suited for an experienced engineer who can independently review, design, and support mechanical systems across multiple architectural and engineering projects. Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and review mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable U.S. building codes, standards, and regulations
  • Conduct site visits within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area when needed to assess project requirements, monitor progress, and support field coordination
  • Review and correct mechanical drawings and technical submissions
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and documentation as required
  • Conduct technical assessments and support project coordination as needed
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure design quality and regulatory compliance
  • Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and local code requirements

Qualifications:

  • Active PE license in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia (required)
  • Licensure across multiple jurisdictions (DC/MD/VA) is a strong advantage
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. mechanical codes and permitting processes
  • Proven experience in HVAC systems, plumbing design, and mechanical engineering review
  • Proficiency in engineering/design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, project-based environment
