University of Houston System is hiring Academic Advisors for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The role involves advising enrolled and prospective students on academic programs, processing academic paperwork such as degree plans and graduation applications, maintaining student records, and assisting with student retention and orientation activities. - Advise students on academic programs, curriculum, admission, and retention requirements.
- Analyze and process degree plans, graduation applications, grade change forms, petitions, and readmission requests.
- Maintain and update student files throughout their academic careers.
- Provide retention services for students on probation and assist with financial aid reinstatements and appeals.
- Participate in orientation sessions and recruitment efforts for incoming students.
- Use knowledge typically acquired through a 4-year degree or equivalent specialized training related to the work.
- Level 1 requires a minimum of 1 year of related experience; Level 2 requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience and may coordinate entry-level advisors.
- Preferred qualifications include a STEM degree and teaching experience.
- Salary ranges from $38,100 to $48,900 depending on level and experience.
- Positions are security sensitive and require a criminal history check.
