ASSOCIATE ACCOUNTING ANALYST

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join their team as Associate Accounting Analysts. The role involves serving as the primary contact for federal reimbursement claims and performing various consultative, advisory, and evaluative duties related to the federal reimbursement process for disaster grants management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for federal reimbursement claims within the Disaster Grants Management Unit
  • Perform a wide variety of consultative, advisory, research, and evaluative duties related to the federal reimbursement process
  • Interpret federal regulations and legislation associated with Cal OES's Federal grant programs to effectively prepare quarterly reimbursement claims to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

Skills

  • Knowledge of Laws, Rules, and Procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of the state's uniform accounting system Financial Information System of California (FI$Cal)
  • Knowledge of state and related federal laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • A full understanding of Federal Grant programs is necessary to effectively prepare reimbursement claims to FEMA
  • Must have a strong fiscal education and background
  • Must exercise good writing skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to be responsive to the needs of the public and employees of Cal OES and other agencies
  • Ability to analyze situations and take effective action using initiative, resourcefulness, and good judgment
  • Must work with limited supervision
