About the Role

As a Data Engineer at Netflix, you'll play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data systems that support our business operations. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and data science, to develop data pipelines that extract insights from our vast amounts of data. Your expertise in cloud-based data engineering will enable us to make data-driven decisions, improve our products, and deliver a better experience to our members.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data pipelines using cloud-based technologies such as AWS, GCP, or Azure * Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to develop data models and algorithms that drive business insights * Work with data engineers to design and implement data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage solutions * Develop and maintain data quality and governance processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity * Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices for data engineering * Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues that impact business operations * Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and apply them to improve our data systems

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field * 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on cloud-based technologies * Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance * Experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration tools * Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala * Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink * Strong understanding of cloud-based data storage solutions such as AWS S3, GCP Cloud Storage, or Azure Blob Storage * Experience with data quality and governance tools such as Apache Beam, Apache Airflow, or AWS Glue

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field * Experience with data science and machine learning technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn * Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js * Strong understanding of agile development methodologies and DevOps practices * Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes * Experience with cloud-based data analytics platforms such as AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery, or Azure Synapse Analytics

Skills and Competencies

* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail * Excellent communication and collaboration skills * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities * Strong understanding of data engineering principles and best practices * Experience with data governance and data quality processes * Strong understanding of cloud-based data storage solutions and data pipelines * Experience with data visualization tools and data science technologies
